TUM has established a set of central administrative offices charged with all organizational matters pertaining to teaching and learning. Every decision and change management process is handled by advisory boards, which promotes transparency and traceability, and ensures that all parties concerned are involved from the start.
The Academic Affairs Board (Vorstand Lehre) is the advisory panel for all activities and projects relating to teaching and learning at TUM. The Academic Affairs Council is the decision-making board where the issues addressed to the Academic Affairs Commission are resolved.
The TUM Center for Study and Teaching reports directly to the Senior Vice-President for Academic and Student Affairs, and represents the first point of contact for TUM schools and colleges for all inquiries concerning academic affairs. Among other tasks, this unit is in charge of fine-tuning quality management concepts, processing legal issues, and advising TUM schools and colleges on the establishment and operation of degree programs.
The TUM Center for Study and Teaching also deals with the concerns of students currently enrolled at TUM as well as inquiries from prospective students - from fielding initial questions addressed to Student Advising, through the enrollment process, to managing examinations and issuing graduation documents. A further contact point for students and prospective applicants is the Student Information. Additionally, all students, employees, and alumni can submit feedback via the Online Feedback Form.
The Academic Affairs Board, a small executive panel that meets six times per year and as necessary, convenes ad hoc task forces to handle current issues and report on the implementation of solution strategies.
This board comprises of four Deans for academic affairs who represent the respective TUM campus location, the spokesperson of the Deans of academic affairs, two student representatives, and one representative of the Assembly of Academic Staff Members, as well as a representative of the Degree Program Management Committee. Chaired by the Senior Vice-President for Academic and Student Affairs, this commission is the advisory panel for all activities and projects concerning teaching and learning at TUM.
